Sugarcane farmers typically lack control over processing and sales, but Equal Exchange's partnered co-op, Manduvira, changed the game. By organizing to demand fair prices, they built Paraguay’s first farmer-owned sugar mill, empowering them to sell organic sugar directly to market on their own terms.
