About the Authors/Artists

Daniela Drescher is an artist and writer who began her journey as a children's art therapist. Living in southern Germany, Daniela is inspired by her natural surroundings, vibrant garden and the enchanting characters from her stories who keep her company while she works. She hopes to inspire a sense of wonder in her artwork and heartwarming stories, sparking children's imagination with tales of kindness and hope.

Elsa Beskow is Sweden's best-loved children's book illustrator, transporting her young readers back to an idyllic rural Sweden at the turn of the 20th century. Swedish children have grown up with her magical stories for over 100 years, and these classics have been translated into many languages. Inspired by her life and surroundings, Elsa's illustrations feature characters modelled on her sons, and her wonderful drawings of plants and flowers inspired by her wild garden just outside of Stockholm. Combining fantasy and reality, Elsa's picture books capture the magic of childhood, with talking animals and elves intertwined with the natural world.

Sibylle von Olfers is the author of the enchanting tale of "The Root Children". This timeless classic was created for her younger sister in 1906, now enriching the lives of generations of families around the world with its magical narrative. Sibylle von Olfers was a nun, art teacher, and visionary storyteller, inspired by her imaginative upbringing in Germany and a deep connection to nature. Her illustrations capture the beauty of the seasons, cycles of nature and the innocence of youth, in an art nouveau style.
